Trish Mitchell

Club: Franklin County Federated Republican Women

District: 3rd

When did you join local club/MoFRW/NFRW? I began attending the Washington Federated Republican Women’s Club back in 2007. The WFRW and the Federated Republican Women of Union merged last year to form the FCFRW. I was appointed Corresponding Secretary and Campaign Chair of the MoFRW last October.

How did you get involved? After September 11, 2201 I became a student in the world of politics so to speak. Because of 9-11 I began to sit up a little straighter and take note of what was going on in the world and began following campaigns, candidates, legislators, policy, world events, etc. I heard about my local club through a friend and learned that the club’s goal was education. It’s what I was looking for at the time and I’ve developed some very good friendships through my membership.

Leadership roles you’ve had in your club/district/MoFRW? President and Vice President of the WFRW, 1st Vice President of the 3rd Districit, Campaign Chair and Corresponding Secretary of the MoFRW

Why are you a member? Thomas Jefferson said, ”If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.” It is so important to educate our communities because without an educated citizenry our Republic cannot remain free. We, as citizens, are responsible for those we put into office. We must choose our candidates wisely by getting to know who they are and what they stand for. The Republican Women’s cause is to educate the citizenry and that’s why I am a part of this organization.

What is the benefit to being involved in club/district/MoFRW/NFRW? I enjoy the camaraderie of my fellow Republican Women and also hearing from guest speakers on topics that are important so I can go out then and inform others.

What is your advice to someone thinking of joining? There is no time like the present to be a student in this world of politics. This organization connects you to so many people and provides opportunities for volunteerism in many different arenas. It is also a great place for you to make a difference at every level of government.

What are your interests/hobbies/activities outside the MoFRW? Being with my family and friends and volunteering everywhere I can.

What is your favorite memory (memories) being a member of your club/MoFRW? There are so many but I love going to the state conventions and being able to meet up with my fellow Republican women from across the state that I haven’t seen in a year! It’s always a great time!

Please provide any additional information about yourself you’d like to include.
My participation in Republican Women at all levels prepared me for my campaigns for School Board and Presiding Commissioner. I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve this organization.
