Deborah Phillips

My name is Deborah Phillips and I have been a member of the Johnson County Federated Republican Women from the 4th District of Missouri since 2009. I became aware of our political structure of laws being overlooked, ignored and discarded by those that were elected to represent the people. I actually searched for an organization that promoted conservative values in my area and discovered JoCoFRW. Even though I did not know anyone, I joined and attended all events. I attended MO State events and when I was asked “Who are you?”, I replied that I was a concerned citizen and wanted to help. My goal was to make a difference by working to elect people that respected our laws, our Constitution and America.

I have served as the Johnson County FRW President, 2nd VP of the 4th District FRW, and presently serve as the 1st VP of the 4th District and MOFRW Recording Secretary. I have been Legislative Day Chair for the past 3 years. I am also a NFRW Regent.

I love that if you join a local County Club, you are automatically a member of your District, State and National Republican Women’s Club. I would emphasize to anyone considering joining a club, to do so. It has been the most effective political education of my life. Never do I go into a voting booth now without knowing every person listed. I feel very confident in my vote.

I have met so many great people through this organization. They have taught me how to maneuver though our great Capitol in Jefferson City and effectively communicate with politicians. I am comfortable writing or calling any politician and feel like I have a voice through the Republican Women’s
clubs.

I have a wonderful husband, Bob, three daughters and four grandchildren. I love crafts, games, and my church. I have worked with our church youth group on Wednesdays for the past 7 years. They always start the night with the Pledge of Allegiance. We also have theme nights. One of my favorite themes is “Patriotic Night” where we teach all rules of the American Flag and how important our Veterans are.
